For quite a while, the contention on whether consuming certain foods and diet have some bearing on acne has not been reconciled. Acne appears because of clogged hair follicles in the skin. This happens when excessive sebum is made and gathers in the pores. The sebum creates a blockage when it mixes with dead cells formed in the walls of the hair follicles. The pores in time close and are then set on by bacteria which leads to irritation and inflammation.

Acne can be avoided by freeing up the pores, minimizing the sebum formation, and then killing the bacteria.

In the West, many individuals are suffering with acne due to western-society diets which are rich in fat. In eastern societies however, inhabitants eat more carbohydrates and low-fat food products. Their diet comprises of plenty of fruits and vegetables. This is why there hardly is any acne seen on people who live in those areas.

Acne also comes about by foods that are not easily digested. A dull digestive system may bring about all types of skin ailments. For this reason essential that people suffering from acne vary their diets and start eating fiber-rich foods and vegetables for they will aid in the process of metabolism and can even help clean the digestive tract. Drinking lots of water is also very important. Together with fruits and a daily serving of seed oil, they may help recover some of the lost nutrients in your body. Fish should also be added to your diet as these can supplement for some essential fatty acids. Whole grains, lentils and beans, and root vegetables may also aid in avoiding the onset of acne. But then, alcohol and caffeine intake should be avoided.

In conclusion, a healthy diet aids the body in better maintaining the skin. Eating better may lessen your chances of getting acne because it will improve your body's immune system and may help in treating your acne. Fundamentally, you should balance your diet with vegetables, fruits, whole grain and multi-grain foods, carbohydrates, fibers, and frequent intake of seed and mineral oils. Likewise, every day consumption of foods rich in antioxidants may help you abolish acne.
