Acne Skin Care: Oily Skin & Acne
Acne Help & Treatment Center > Susceptibility of Oily Skin to Acne
Knowing your skin type before commencing treatment for your acne will help you effectively and properly treat it. Skin covers the entire human body and acts as a barrier that forbids microorganisms and harmful elements from entering the body. It is responsible for some critical bodily functions like regulating the loss of body liquids such as blood and water. It also protects body tissues from injuries and controls body temperature through perspiration. The skin is composed of different layers. They are the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. The epidermis plays a significant role in acne production as it houses the hair follicles, sweat glands and sebaceous glands. This part of the skin reacts to changes in temperature, pain and itching as it covers blood vessels and nerve cells. Your skin can be basically categorized into three types: They are: normal skin, dry skin and oily skin. Aside from these primary types, it is further subdivided into different categories. Basically, these are skin combinations. For example; acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, aging skin and mature skin. Usually, acne prone skin is oily and is characterized by pimples and blackheads. If not given proper attention and treatment, these pimples and blackheads would probably develop into a serious acne problem which can leave lasting pits and scars. People suffering from acne must take extra care in treating their skin. They should also watch their food intake and the cosmetics they utilise. Proper skin care substantially aids in the treatment of acne and promotes healthy skin. People with sensitive and oily skin are also prone to acne infection. Oily skin is often coarse and shiny in texture. This skin type may have oversized skin pores and recurring blackheads. Oily skin is also characterized with flaky patches around the nose which may produce large amounts of oil or sebum. This is why people with oily skin are prone to getting acne even during adulthood. Sensitive skin types yield to acne easily due to the fact that it is affected with even the most benign change in body chemistry. This can be triggered by foods, cosmetics, or other external influences. Sensitive skin is regarded as any skin type with damaged vessels and capillaries below the skin surface. In case you might have sensitive skin, then it is good that you take added care in preventing skin irritation. Use perfumes, cosmetics, and other chemical substances with care as they may induce chemical reactions in the body, which might produce acne. A proper diet must also be followed along with regular exercise in order that you may keep your metabolism and bodily functions in tip top shape. Depending upon the weather, skin oiliness may vary at different times of the day. In conclusion, only proper care for the skin is important in maintaining its health. Also, stress must be minimized for it may generate acne breakout, induces aging and may cause other skin diseases and disorders. |
