Acne is a skin disorder that generally makes its dreaded appearance during the tender ages between twelve and twenty-four. This is most popular during this time frame in a person's life for many reasons. Some of the contributing factors for the excessive acne breakouts during
teenage years are as follows: Acne is a term that is commonly known to include blackheads and whiteheads; it also includes pimples, lumps, and nodules. These skin conditions generally affect the face, forehead, and cheeks. On rare occasions they will also effect the shoulders, neck, and back. While these are the primary places you see acne, that doesn't mean that you will never find it in other parts of the body. You won't, however, find acne in the hands or feet because they lack subcutaneous units. Although there is no definitive cure for acne, there are many effective methods for treatment. First of all the use of soap and water along with a topical cream is an excellent treatment option for mild, occasional outbreaks. Benzoyl peroxide is one of the excellent over the counter medications that are typically used for the treatment of mild acne. This cleanser has antibacterial properties, which also increases its popularity for the treatment of acne. Be aware that this has a tendency to dry out skin and have moisturizers on hand to remedy this. Salicylic acid, a substance commonly found in aspirin is commonly used treatment for acne. This is used to assist in the even shedding of skin. This process is also believed to unclog pores and heal lesions left by previous acne scars. Because neither of these forms of treatment have any effect on sebum production, they must be used consistently and constantly in order to work effectively. Sulfur is found in many over the counter medications and when combined with salicylic acid and alcohol becomes an anti-bacterial agent that may in fact slow the production of the bacteria that promotes a hospitable environment for acne. While many homeopathic remedies are not yet proven medically, they are becoming more widely accepted as the natural choices for acne treatment. You can also try treatments that include lemon juice, mint juice, and rosewater if that floats your boat. Also check out primrose and lavender treatments. |
